Moby Dick Nerds

A vintage copy of Moby Dick with an orange background and illustration of a whale's tail coming out of the sea.

I have two dear friends who are both Moby Dick obsessed/Melville Nerds—that’s their language, not mine. They keep telling me things about Moby Dick that make it sound way more interesting to me than I initially thought. However, it is such a hard read, I haven’t been able to comply with their constant imploring that I should read it. A client who is downsizing, donating, and cleaning out an estate had a children’s copy and she offered it to me. I thought, “How perfect this would be for me. I could read the book, please my friends, and be part of the conversation.” As much as I wasn’t surprised, even as a children’s book, Moby Dick is still hard to read.
